‘AUSINDEX’- India, Australia participate in the 4th edition
India and Australia have participated in the 4th edition of the biennial maritime series ‘AUSINDEX’.
The exercise will allow the Australian navy and the Indian Navy to strengthen inter-operability and gain from the best practices.
HMAS Rankin, Royal Australian Air Force P-8A and F-18 aircraft, helicopters of the Australian and Indian Navy participated in this maritime exercise.

Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 declared
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics 2021.
Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann, Giorgio Parisi have jointly won the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics.
The prestigious award comes with a gold medal and 10 million Swedish kronor (over USD 1.14 million).

Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed takes oath for a second term
The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed has been sworn in for a second five-year term.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Meaza Ashenafi administered the oath of office to Abiy Ahmed.
Mr. Abiy won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for restoring ties with neighboring Eritrea and for pursuing sweeping political reforms.

CSIR introduces organised cultivation of Dalchini in Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in India to begin the organized cultivation of cinnamon (dalchini).
The introduction has been made by CSIR’s Institute of Himalayan Biosource Technology (IHBT) for a pilot basis.
India imports 45,318 tonnes of cinnamon annually from China, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Nepal.
Quick Fact: True cinnamon or Cinnamomumverum is grown mainly in Sri Lanka.

Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite broadband venture to be headed by Sanjay Bhargava in India
Sanjay Bhargava will be heading the tech billionaire entrepreneur’s Starlink satellite broadband venture in India.
Bhargava had earlier worked with Elon Musk as part of the team that had founded the electronic payment firm PayPal.
Bhargava joined SpaceX as Starlink’s country director (India).

FC Goa beat Mohammedan Sporting to win their maiden Durand Cup football title.
FC Goa scored 1-0 in the final held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata.
The 2021 Durand Cup was the 130th edition of the Durand Cup.

Smriti Mandhana has become the first Indian woman to score a Test hundred on Australian soil.
Smriti completed her century with a score of 127 runs with 22 fours and a six to shape up India’s first innings on the second day of the first pink ball day and night.
The match was played at the Carrara Oval in Queensland, Australia.
