To understand DU JAT 2020 Exam Analysis, we must first understand the basics of DU JAT. DU JAT (Delhi University Joint Admission Test) is one of the most coveted exams which is conducted by Delhi University. Candidates appearing for the exam to get admission for undergraduate courses like BMS, BBA, and BA(H) in Business Economics. Most of the competitive exams like DU JAT in 2020 were deferred due to the restrictions of the pandemic.
DU JAT follows the paper pattern of 4 sections which includes General English, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability. This year was the same, however, there were some major changes in the paper, as we shall see below.
DU JAT 2020 Exam Analysis: Broad highlights
- DU JAT 2020 was conducted on September 7, 2020 in two slots. It was delayed for more than 2 months this year. Usually the exam is conducted in the month of June or July.
- The exam was computer-based. Students were allowed to use a scientific calculator and had access to an online timer
- Many struggles were faced by the students because of the COVID-19 situation. Safety measures were announced before the exam. At one of the centres, the exam was late by 45 minutes.
- As per normal DU JAT pattern, the duration of the exam was 2 hours with 100 questions to answer.
- Similarly, as per the usual DU JAT pattern, the total marks for the exam was 400, i.e +4 marks for every correct answer and -1 for every incorrect answer.
- However, unlike the previous years’ DU JAT exam pattern, the uniformity of distribution of questions was not maintained. The Quantitative Ability section had more weightage with around 38 questions, while the weightage of Verbal Ability section was reduced
- Also moving away from the regular DU JAT exam pattern, questions from the four sections were not distributed in separate sections, and appeared mixed. However, students could check the overview of answered and unanswered questions in the side panel. They could also flag questions to review or attempt them later.

General English Section Analysis
- There were a total of 18 questions and not 25 as normal in the General English section.
- The English section always comes to the rescue of the students and was comparatively easy to get 17-18 questions right this time.
- Students who have a good command over the language could easily ace this section of the exam

Quantitative Aptitude Section Analysis
- One of the major plot-twist in the DUJAT 2020 was its Quantitative Ability section. Majority of the question paper was filled with mathematical questions with 37 questions in total.
- Number of questions from basic maths were roughly equal to those asked from higher maths.
- Questions came from a variety of topics from grade 9th – 12th level of mathematics unlike the previous years’ where the questions were majorly from 11th and 12th grade mathematics.
- This was the most difficult section for students, especially the higher maths questions.

Logical Reasoning Section Analysis
- There were a total of 30 questions in the Logical Reasoning section. Therefore this section comes second in the weightage ranking.
- This section can be said to be moderately easy and could get almost 26-27 answers right.
- Majority of questions were based on Analytical Reasoning
- Only one question was related to Verbal Reasoning.

- In DU JAT 2020, there wasn’t any separate section for this category. The questions were scattered throughout the question paper.
- The weightage of this section was the lowest with only 12 questions related to current affairs.
- This section has always been of high prominence for the DU JAT Exam but this year it was completely different.
- The questions were easy and were based on Awards, personalities, agreements and different organizations and not static GK.
