NLU Delhi was established in 2008 when the Bar Council of India (BCI) introduced the model of National Law Universities. It is one of the premier institutes for studying Law in India. The university offers its students immense opportunities for growth and excellent exposure. It aims at the holistic development of its students. Each year NLU Delhi admits new students into its various programs like BA LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. via the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) held around May. Besides providing many fruitful opportunities the university also boasts an incredible infrastructure packed with amazing facilities.
NLU Delhi: Infrastructure and Campus facilities
National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is located at Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi. It has an enormous campus that is backed up by a solid infrastructure. the university is divided into several blocks. The academic block of the university occupies five floors while the administration block that is separate from others occupies five floors as well. The residence halls where the girls’ and boys’ hostels are situated occupies around six floors.
The campus facilities can be divided into two sections that are academic and residential.
Academic Facilities
The National Law University Delhi provides its students excellent academic facilities that not only complement their studies and course material but are a catalyst in their growth and development and not to forget a means of exposure to various other resources. The academic facilities can be further divided into these categories:
Library
The Justice T.P.S. Chawla library at NLUD has been functional since 2010. The library is a separate building consisting of two floors. The library tends to the needs of the students, scholars, and teachers at the National Law University Delhi. The library presently has a stock of over 37, 500 books and volumes of journals. It currently subscribes to 180 journals and newspapers along with 250 CDs and DVDs. Within the online database of the library, it has stored numerous national and international resources like JSTOR, LexisNexis Academic, AIR InfoTech Supreme Court of India, etc. The library acquires and preserves a world-class collection of both contemporary and historical legal material that is accessible to students, teachers, researchers alike.
Computer Center
NLU Delhi has a smart campus that is wi-fi enabled. The internet center is situated within the library and has around 50 high-end computers with Microsoft operating system. There is a separate bay for laptop users as well. The center is supported with three servers and high bandwidth speed, there is also a print facility available. The internet center helps students to overcome the growing obstacles faced during internet usage and e-learning mode. The internet center collaborates with prominent academic stakeholders to provide an extensive online database of academic resources.
Digital Classrooms
The university classrooms are equipped with digital podiums, LCD projector, and display screen and are also wi-fi enabled. All classrooms also have an e-Station Smart Multimedia Podium used for teaching. The e-station is equipped with a touchscreen, writing, sound system, CD player, and recording facilities.
Auditorium
The National Law University, Delhi consists of an auditorium with a seating capacity of around 650 people and is fully air-conditioned. It has state of the art audio and visual facilities and is used to conduct seminars, conferences, and cultural programs.
Seminar Rooms
The seminar rooms are located in the academic block and have top-notch facilities.
E-Moot Court Hall
The E-moot court hall is used during the moot court trials. It is equipped with incredible audio and visual pieces of equipment and has a seating capacity of around 170 people.
Residential Facilities
The following facilities come under residential facilities:
Halls of Residence
The university is completely residential and has a separate residence for boys and girls. The halls of residence have a common room, indoor games like pool table, table tennis, television, and a gymnasium. Maintaining discipline is the responsibility of the residence, Chief-Warden, wardens, and assistant warden. The rules and regulations laid down by the university have to be adhered to strictly.
Transport Facility
University has two Innova cars and a bus which are used for activities such as court visits. Legal Aid Programmes and Clinics.
Medical Centre and Ambulance
There is a 24-hour medical room with a nurse. A doctor visits the campus between 4-6 pm every day. An ambulance is also available round the clock at the university campus in case there is an emergency.
Banks
The UCO and HDFC banks provide ATM facilities within the university’s campus. Students can open their accounts with the UCO bank and the HDFC bank also provides a banking facility.
Sports/Games
The university is equipped with a basketball and a volleyball court. It also has a gymnasium with the latest pieces of equipment. It is situated at the girl’s and boy’s respective residence halls.
Cafeteria/ Mess
The National Law University Delhi has a well-equipped and furnished cafeteria and two separate mess present in boy’s and girl’s hostels.Â
